Sara Michael was established by two textile designers, Sara Lusvardi and Michael Felker to celebrate Malibu’s infamous mosaic tiles which have adorned southern California’s architecture for 84 years. In 1926, Malibu Potteries was created by May K. Rindge whose family owned what we call Malibu today, and Rufus B. Keeler, Ceramicist. They were responding to the booming demand for Spanish Revival architecture which was very popular in Southern California in the 1900s. Sara Michael honours this beautiful tradition with hand-painted silk and velvet scarfs, wraps, sarongs and totes.
